NetFlix Launches NetPlay; Delivers Live Cast Through Mai

Netflix, which until now has specialized in mailing DVD’s of movies to subscribers, has decided to broaden its offerings by launching a service called NetPlay, which will bring live theater to homes all across America. Since the heart and soul of theater is the excitement of a live performance, the service will ship a living, breathing cast to each home.

Directors, unhappy about being left out, have petitioned the service to include them in the shipping carton, so they can point out their contributions to the show while fans watch it.

It remains to be determined how many subscribers will opt for the service, primarily due to the fact that it’s usually difficult to determine how many people will do anything before they have the opportunity to do it and, secondarily, to the fact that, while the average flick rents for about five bucks a pop, shipping charges for NetPlay vary from between $1,000 and $10,000 per show, depending, of course, on the size of the cast.
