NASA To Equip International Space Station With Mini-Bar
Acknowledging the existence of astronauts flying while drunk, NASA took steps to allay public concern by stating that the agency plans to equip the international space station with a mini-bar.
A spokesman for NASA stated, “Astronauts often like to drink. Given the riskiness of their job, we think that’s understandable, and it would be unrealistic for us to ask them to lay off the booze. We think a much more achievable goal is to ask them hold off until they’re safely inside the space station.”
“How can you justify drinking on the space station?” a reporter asked.
“Look at it this way,” the NASA spokesman explained, “You can get arrested for driving while you’re under the influence. But, once you’re inside your home, it’s OK. We figure the same rules that apply on earth should apply in space.”
“But what if orbiting under the influence proves to be dangerous?” another reporter wanted to know.
The spokesman considered the question, and then replied, “We have to leave that up to the police. They’re always free to chase down the space station and ticket the astronauts.”
