SHREDITORIAL

Wait Continues For At Least One Iraqi To Say Thank You

During America’s entire time in Iraq, what has been missing? Millions of Americans notice every day, but they don’t seem to want to talk about it. The subject is just too distressing.

Despite having expended the lives of over 3,000 young Americans and countless billions of our national treasure to free Iraq from the murderous tyranny of Saddam Hussein and then baby sit the populace while they decide if they really want to be a nation, has anyone heard an Iraqi say the simple words, “Thank you.”

Even allowing for the daily mayhem they inflict on each other or allow Al-Qaeda to inflict on them, it seems that at least one Iraqi would say something more positive than “We need the Americans now, but everybody looks forward to the day when they’ll leave Iraq.”

Will at least one Iraqi ever come right out and say, "Thank you"?

Apparently, even that modest goal seems like too much to hope for.
