Frugal and Bugle
Google, stung by criticism that its Adwords program – which accounts for how advertisers find you and pay for the little ads along the margins of Web pages – has evolved pricing policies that have made it difficult, if not impossible, for smaller merchants to reach their audience, has introduced a new program called Frugal.
The most significant difference between Frugal and regular Google Adwords is that the new program is based on “Adwords” that only provide hints as to where the ad should show up. The vaguer the hint, the lower the price.
In order to announce its new service, Google has also created a new pubic relations service that consists of a single bugle that sits on a table in the company lobby. Subscribers to Frugal are invited to travel to Google corporate headquarters, pick up the bugle, take it outside and blow it to announce that their advertising is now appearing on the Internet.
