A Global-Warming Christmas: Ho, Ho, Where’s the Snow?
Ah, Christmas in New York. “Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening.”
But not this year. Somehow, Christmas and then, even more incredibly, New Year’s arrived in New York without a trace of snow.
What’s going on? People are beginning to talk. Could the snow-free season be due to global warming? The temps are warmer than usual and, what precipitation there is, falls as rain.
But guess what? Even if the Northeast has an entirely snow-free winter, the skeptics will still be there. The peculiarity can’t be due to global warming. Even if it is, where’s the proof that it’s the result of human activity?
Maybe the Northeast’s share of snow just happened to land in Denver, which has so far been inundated twice.
Yet, come snow or come shine, the question hangs in the air. Ho, ho, where is that snow?
Just be jolly you’re not in the sled business.
