Bush Berates Congress; Needs More Spending Bills To Veto
President Bush berated Congress for not sending him more spending bills.
Sounding almost apoplectic, he raged, “Congress is not getting its work done and it’s just not fair. I like to veto bills, especially when they’re sponsored by Democrats. I especially like to veto ones about healthcare for poor children. The truth is, I’ve found the veto habit forming, and I can’t stand just sitting in the oval office, twiddling my thumbs, while Congress twiddles its thumbs.”
Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker, responded with an outburst herself, stating, “Instead of criticizing Congress, why doesn’t he draw up some bills himself? What good is it for us to draw them up when all he does it veto them? I know that’s not the way the government is supposed to work, but at this point, I’ll take any bill he suggests to end the war in Iraq and provide health care for disadvantaged children.”
When President Bush heard about her outburst, he reportedly put his fingers in his ears and stuck out his tongue.
Taking note of the odd behavior, unrealistic Democratic Presidential aspirant Dennis Kusinich had a good time floating the word “unstable.” In doing so, he noted that the President “… does not seem to understand his words have real impact.’"
The latter perception was not widely regarded as a major insight.
